This week in Apple
Another September, another Apple special event. The theme this time is "Let's Rock" which is so vapid for Apple. I expect better. But clearly its an iPod event. Looks pretty certain that Apple is releasing a longer Nano with a bigger screen. Yawn! It may give them a slight uptick in video usage, but the far bigger issues are battery life and BTW, how do you watch anything long form on a device like that? Its uncomfortable.
I expected Apple to push the apps into the Nano. Really take them mainstream. But it looks like that isn't happening. I guess is makes sense. With the iPhone at $199, do you really want or need an item at $149 that does apps. Not really. And I can see engineering and usability challenges.
So is that it Apple? A skinny long Nano? That's all you got?
They have to have something else up their sleeve. Otherwise, this will be the most disappointing event since Apple called the media out for Steve Jobs to introduce a speaker.
